Ecogenics explores new sources for Alcohol fuel

Abundant possibilities at hand for creating alcohol from waste streams

6/11/2006 -- Ecogenics returns to its' roots by exploring new sources for Alcohol fuel (ethanol).  Currently Ecogenics is researching the potential for producing fuel from "Little Debbie" cakes, apple cider pulp, and even stale beer from breweries. In 1977 Ecogenics (formerly the Tennessee Gasohol Commission) began exploring alternative feedstocks including waste rice cakes and Gatorade powder.  According to Ecogenics' founder, Marc Cardoso:  "[T]echnologies . . . using waste streams, such as spoiled food, to produce alternative fuels must be explored.  [Waste stream] recovery is key to creating a sustainable America."

Photographs available on the Ethanol page.
